Force Quit Mac App But Can't See It

Posted on  by

Hi,

Aug 24, 2018  Press the keys CMD + ALT + ESC all at the same time and choose the errant app in the list and click the Force Quit Button. Right Clicking the icon in the DOCK may also show the Force Quit option if the app is not responding. If none of those work can you launch Activity Monitor? While in the app you want to quit, hold down Shift while you tap on the Apple menu at the top left corner of the screen. Look down the drop down menu that appears and you should see Force Quit and the name of the app you are in. Select the command to quit the app.

Does Force Quit not work ?

Press the keys CMD + ALT + ESC all at the same time and choose the errant app in the list and click the Force Quit Button.

Right Clicking the icon in the DOCK may also show the Force Quit option if the app is not responding.

If none of those work can you launch Activity Monitor ?

It is Applications/Utilities.

Find the App in the list, highlight then use the icon that looks like a Stop Sign to Force Quit. It will ask you to confirm.

Safari Won't Force Quit

The last of all options is to hold down the power button for 5-7 secs and this will shut down the Mac.

Force Quit App

It will not save (or try to save) anything during this move.
